It is always satisfying to make something for people you have a strong connection to.Whether it be a Chocolate Mocha Sour Cream Cake for a friend’s birthday, or a furniture commission for a person who’s design aesthetic you know well.
Trust is an important part of the relationship between client and maker and when that trust is long held, the process becomes more fluid and fruitful.
I first made a version of this stool as part of a chair making course I attended at the Centre For Fine Woodworking in Nelson, New Zealand. My dear friend Leesa liked it so much she asked me to make her one. Thanks Leesa!
